Following his friend out with a mock respectful nod to Malkin, Mal grabbed Edwards shoulder and directed him toward the wall, pulling him hard close to it. Acting like this in front of him and Malkin was one thing - but in the Alley and in front of Merlin knows who nuh uh, no way. Mal wasn't usually directly cruel to his friends, but he was going to snap Edward out of this, because nothing could be done when wallowing in self-pity.
"Snap OUT of it!" He hissed at Edward, standing in front of him and shooting his fellow Slytherin a glare. At least he could block some people seeing that it was Edward Potter that was acting up like this. It really was the very least he could do. "Do you want them to figure out that you know?" Abraxas was very keen on secrets, he'd been raised on them, and he knew how to use them to his advantage. This one was perfect for vengeance, and it could be used in so many ways to make this year, Ed's final one at Hogwarts be the easiest one ever when he returned home at any point.
"We'll sort it for today, your father wouldn't dare refuse to let you stay with me, it would be bad taste and bad manners - you know how they all are. I'll get 'Rion to meet us, we'll fix this and get pleasantly, or unpleasantly trashed using my father's 'hidden' collection, alright?" He suggested and looked at Edward less fiercely. "Sound like a good plan?"

Took him a bit off guard, Mal losing his cool. And as much as he would like to fully 'snap out of it' he really couldn't. But just enough so that he good actually take a big deep breath, a couple as a matter of fact, and as he slowly let the air out he nodded. His friend was right, panicking like this wasn't going to solve a damn thing.
Closing his eyes, his hands to his head and covered his face, rubbing over it a couple times they slid to his hair. The pulse in his chest began to slow down to his normal, cold, speed, and the red in his face dulled back to the perfect tan, "I can't turn into him, Mal..." Finding his friends eye, trying to get him to understand how truly frigthened he was.
And this would be a first, not only for Edward, but for all the guys. They were the top of the food chain at Hogwarts. Everybody was scared of them. Everybody loved them, and to an extent that most would do anything for them. No matter the consequence. Which was definitely a plus. But nobody ever wanted to get on their badside, because if you did cross them...you wouldn't be walking, nor breathing, any time soon.
Right now they weren't at Hogwarts. They were in the middle of Diagon Alley. And everyone could see them. So in all matter of thinking, this was probably worse. But Edward was too focused on the trouble at hand to really notice.

Seeing Edward begin to calm a little, Abraxas bit back his temper and took his own advice of cooling it. He really didn't need a friend blowing up in his face, and Abraxas knew that. Seeing fear in the look he was given, Abraxas showed nothing on his face but his stomach twisted. This really was that serious, and he really was that shaken up by it all. Ed was normally the one that knew how to handle it all, and laughed in the face of danger or risk, and it made Mal feel a little unsure.
Uncertainty though was not going to be a big help. So Abraxas sighed slightly and tilted his head. "Do this later Potter, for now just be stable enough to get you out of that house while you're in this state. They'll only use it against you, and then where will we be?" He was thinking of just sorting out the immediate, the plans would flow later when they had time aside to do that kind of thing without worry of being overheard or Edward being seen as a mess.
Glancing over his shoulder, he wondered where the hell his mother was. She would be useful right now. She paid them no heed, except to offer to have Mal's friends over whenever they pleased, and that would be enough. Just so long as 'Rion wasn't going to chicken out on them then Mal was sure this could be wrapped up only a few days from now. Maybe Cygnus would be around somewhere, depending on what the heck was going to happen and what their plans turned out to be. If it could be sorted with just the three of them fair enough, it would be safer to have less people involved, but Cygnus was one of them all the same.
Mal looked at Edward with concern flashing between thinly veiled anger directed at the Potter household on Ed's behalf. He didn't want this to become the 'end' of life as they had known it, and to be put back on track then he was willing to get his own hands dirty.

Swallowing, Edward closed his eyes. Hands still knotted in his hair--the tension was starting to slide away, but only for the sake of a needed escape. Mal was right, if Ed was like this in front of his parents then all hell would break loose! Taking deep breaths, he felt control returning, and himself taking a few steps away from the edge. Edge of insanity. And with himself finally locking up visible fright, he was back. Mostly.
But for now this was the only way he'd be able to manage even existing. Locking everything up, storing it away for later. He couldn't deal with this now, the big thing he had to focus on was convincing his father to let him leave the house. Shouldn't be a problem really, and that was one thing Edward was really counting on. The one thing Edward knew they could accomplish.
Opening his eyes, his arms fell back to his sides and he straightened up, "You're right...i need to calm down..." Maybe handeling things this way was dangerous. But at least that gave Edward somewhat of a normality. The prospect of mixing with danger...
"We can do this right?" Trying to make himself seem like normal, "I mean, we can do this....It's just another thing, just another problem...nothing that can't be solved with a simple plan..." That was Edward's talent. And with his friends close by, maybe they could take this new attack full on. Maybe.

"You sound more calm already." Mal commented dryly, though he was encouraging Edward, in his own way, to be more like his normal self. He'd back him up when it came to it, and he'd support him if he needed it, but not in the middle of Diagon Alley, when they were both underage and there were doubtlessly Ministry officials everywhere.
It would not be too fantastic to wave a wand and basically jump up and down screaming: ' I know more about the dark arts than you! I'm not scared to cast an Unforgivable! ' It simply would not do...
"We've done harder things.." He answered in the same tone, sounding a little bored, as if this was just another of their games. Mal had figured that playing it down for now might be better. Freaked as Ed had gotten when he had first figured it out, Mal didn't want nor need that to happen again.
"Look, they're just some morons who think they're better than us, right? Same thing at school - and what do we do to idiots like that Ed?" Mal spoke with a sigh and a patronising tone, though his eyes then flashed with spite and pleasure at the thought of doing back to someone twice what they had first inflicted.

If Edward hadn't managed to bump into Mal today, he would've figured out what was wrong, and continud along down his psycho path. Maybe thats what his parents had been counting on? Nah, it couldn't be. But still, it was crazy. And he was driving himself crazy, or...he would be. Just not right now.
Mal pulled him just enough from that sharp edge that Edward could finally think at least semi clearly, and like his old self. His usual and normal self. Taking deep breaths, he was managing to allow his friend to pull him back down from the insane level he'd been on.
Look, they're just some morons who think they're better than us, right? Edward caught eyes with Mal, and nodded. Same thing at school - and what do we do to idiots like that Ed?
It took Edward a moment, "Teach 'em a lesson." Would he really allow his friends to attack his parents?---Shaking his head, he couldn't believe he actually thought a moment about defending those bastard freaks! Ok, this only was another factor of proof that Mal was once again right, and something needed to be done. Tonight.

Seeing that they were getting somewhere, Mal began to think about the possibilities. Easy to get it sorted for one night, maybe two, but this needed something doing as soon as possible. Mal wasn't sure about what should happen, but it should stick in his parents memories for years to come and ensure that they never attempted to touch Edward's character or try to mold him into anything that he didn't ask for their help in. Parents these days were beginning to think that they had some control over how their children acted and that would never do in a million years.
"Teach them a lesson that will stick with them to hell and back." Mal commented then looked around. Finding the form that was his mother, Mal rolled his eyes at her actions, then gestured that Edward come with him a moment.
"Mother!" He put both his hands on the female Malfoy's shoulders and smiled sweetly at her. She turned in surprise and was about to shoot her son a glare when she saw Edward was present. "You've finished Abraxas? Wonderful," She smiled just as sweetly back at her son, then smiled warmly at Edward. "How are you dear? We haven't seen you in a while, you simply must come and stay with us at some point Edward, dear."
Smirking at the predictability of his mother, Abraxas looked at Ed in curiousity. "Fancy it mate? Your father's about here someplace - he'll be alright with it if my mother asks." He spoke off-handedly, as if he couldn't care less, but he was putting his mother into position to ask Adrik Potter to let his son stay with them, and put Adrik in a tricky situation that was almost impossible to get Edward out of. Let no one ever say that Abraxas wasn't both incredibly devious and occasionally highly intelligent.

Giving a smile back at his friend, "I bet he would..." Trickory was Edward's greatest skill right? That involved acting! Right now as the perfect moment to instigate such a talent. And putting his attention back on Mrs. Malfoy, "If it would be alright of, course. Wouldn't want to impose." Like only thing on his mind right now.
Just as he came to await the answer, he felt a hand grip his shoulder, and give a invisble--yet hard, squeeze. Edward's eyes flashed with tension, but his face showed nothing, "Isobella" Adrik's tone was polite, and smooth. The way he would always act around company, his rich friends as it were, "It's a pleasure seeing you here. Sporting Abraxas on your arm as well I see."
Edward didn't bother to look up, but he could just hear that smile--the sick and twisted smile. The one that showed the false gentleman he never was! "How are ya boy? Haven't seen you in awhile."
Yea? That's cause you won't fucking let me have 'im over!, was Edwards only thought.
"Find what you were looking for, Dad?" Trying to politely show that he was still pissed off at his old man. If he went from pissed to utterly calm in under an hour, even his idiotic father would figure that one out.
The grip on his shoulder increased, and Ed bit his tongue, "No need to interupt, son. You know better then that." Keeping that cheer that made Edward want to puke, "So, you were saying..." Obviously his father was suddenly very interested in how his friends day went. But Ed paid it no mind, as long as Mal's mom made the inviation, all would go as planned.

Mal smirked as his mother looked postitively delighted by the idea that Edward would come over. "Not at all Edward, it would be a delight and pleasure dear." Mal stepped behind hs mother as she dramatically expressed herself, pulling a face at Edward from where she safely couldn't see him. From his position he saw a figure approach them, and his expression soured, eyes darkening and flashing.
Hearing the politeness in Adrik Potter's voice, Mal's stomach turned and his wand appeared in his hand. Forcing his hand to stay down, he gripped the wand tightly as his mother reacted to the newcomer, and well-known Potter senior. "Well I could hardly wander the streets alone now, could I Adrik?" She smiled smoothly at the man, though she had felt her son tense up beside her. She knew better than to say anything and remained the calm cool Mrs Malfoy at all times, a fantastic actress in her own right.
When he was addressed, Mal did not even attempt to smile at the elder male. "I've been better Mr Potter, I'm surprised you didn't see me in Madam Malkin's earlier - I saw you sir. I was a little shocked and poor Madam Malkin was a tad upset herself..." He commented silkily, allowing a flash of warning to enter his tone, but only slightly - it could have been taken as anything. The problem with Abraxas was that he picked fights fearlessly and cared nothing for who he was up against. It would lead to his downfall one day, but not yet.
Isobella stiffened at her son's words, but they weren't rude, they were just inquiring and stating fact. She put a hand around his arm, making her position clear that Adrik had both Malfoy's in his way should he choose to take offense. She was good like that sometimes, though mainly she kept to herself and her gossiping. "I was just inviting Edward to come and stay with us - the boys have had so little time together this summer Adrik. There has been talk you know, people were beginning to suspect our families had fallen out."
Now that was Isobella's small social dig - mainly as her son being at home was a personal insult to her - or so she took it as one. Socially, she was royalty in her mind, and any blemish she took to heart. "We would adore to have Edward for a few days." She upped the time length on a whim and smiled sweetly and pleasantly at Adrik.

Adrik was hesitant to let his boy go. With the young Malfoy's comment, and that dark look in his eyes, it was only positive that something was realized. That he was being figured out, or that Edward had spilled something. However, he had to remember his elite, and exactly where he was--as well as the company he was with, "If it were any other night, Isobella..." Knowing fairly well they were being watched, the only thing he could do now was harshly jab his thumb into Edward's shoulder, a warning that his son was very aware of, "I'm afraid we already have plans for this evening."
Edward felt fear slip into his eyes, hoping nodoby would notice. Everything else upon his features remained still, including even, when his father gave that hard pinch to a particular bruise on his back. Swallowing, he tried to fight back, even with the hidden message in his father's words, Edward was just too desperate to give up without trying, "Funny, I thought you were going out with mum, this evening, sir." After all, it was the parents' anniversary.
"I hardly think that mum would want me around on such a special occas-ion..." The last part of his sentance was split. A moment of voiced tension, seemed like stuttering even if you paid really close attention, but Adrik was doing his damndest to irritate that bruise. Just about anything would work for the old man right about now. Mostly because he was sensing a lost battle.

Isobella's eyes flashed and she smiled even more sweetly. "I know your plans Adrik, Corina and I were talking only yesterday about your anniversary. She told me that Melani was staying with friends, and I must have been distracted or I would have offered then to allow Edward to stay with us. I do get all a-flutter when there are things on my mind." Laughing at her own 'dizziness' Isobella waited for Adrik's answer.
Abraxas looked at his mother as she cut him to the chase with Adrik. Putting his hand over hers as it held onto his arm, he grinned at Edward showing with a flash of his eyes that he had no idea what she was doing. Whatever worked, and he knew that she was as stubborn as he was - that's where he got it from, and possibly his fearlessness. Though she was a woman and therefore entitled to the benefit of the doubt in most situations.
Mal noticed as Ed's voice changed and he flashed a look at Adrik fiercely. He was seriously not letting Edward stay there tonight. No way in hell. If need be he would convince his father to go and fetch Edward on 'Ministry business'. He'd done it to others before, and Mal could concoct a good reason for it, most likely. He was just worried for his friend completely.

When Isobella finally just came to the point, cutting it down to her intentions were clear, that's when Edward felt the grip from his father finally loosen. The bruise was stinging, and hell if he was alone he'd be fussing about it, but he wasn't--so he couldn't. And it didn't much surprise him when his father finally gave in, "I suppose a couple nights wouldn't hurt." The only thing Edward had been sure about was that he wasn't sleeping in his own bed tonight. He'd be over at the Malfoy's, and away from his creep of a father!
Still, over all, there had been a seconds notice of fear where possibly things weren't going to turn out as planned. But Mal always came through, and that's one thing you could depend on. When that guy had something on his mind, he did absolutely anything and everything to accomplish it. A stubborn attitude Edward was suddenly very appreciative of. Never admit that though. Hell, that'd just make things wierd. Or, wierder--in this sense.
"Soo...I can go over?" Edward muttered, not caring if the either of the Malfoy's were confused by this assurance. Mal might understand, but his mother was out of the loop. And as much Adrik didn't want to admit it--whatever he had planned for his son tonight would indeed have to wait, "Yes, son. You can stay at the Malfoys. I'm sure your company is missed there." Saying it reluctantly.

Mal grinned as Adrik caved, and shot him a look that clearly read as one word - 'HA!'. He squeezed his mothers hand warmly, and made a mental note to try and write to her this year in thanks..or at least be really nice to her before they went back. He could do that..he could be nice at times to those that did him any special kind of favour, and even though his mother was just salving her wounded pride she had done him the biggest favour possible by putting Adrik in his place, even if it was just for today.
Hearing Edward clarify, maybe for the adults present to actually hear the admission aloud - one with delight and the other with reluctance and possibly resentment? Mal grinned at Edward, then smiled 'sweetly' at Adrik. "You have my deepest thanks Mr Potter." He said smoothly, though it was clear he really didn't give a damn about what the elder man thought or said.
"That's delightful! Edward would you like to come with us now, I do believe we've finshed for the day." Isobella put her two cents in again and smiled around, feeling her son's warmth toward her and being mildly surprised though she showed nothing but the 'dizzy' housewife and mother that she portrayed in public.

That's delightful! Edward would you like to come with us now, I do believe we've finshed for the day.
He instantly smiled, nearly a grin. The second he was away from the parents he'd double over laughing. He could hardly hold it in as it was. Right now he was just too high, in a state of misunderstanding, and yet belief. Mal had out smarted Adrik Potter--personally, Edward would like to think that wasn't too hard to do.
"I'm afraid we have more supplies to gather," The grip reinstated on Edward's shoulder. Mostly telling his son if he wanted to go anywhere this evening he better agree. But being himself, that only made the need for disobedience grow. The ability to completly go against his father here in public and most likely get away with it? It would be too great to pass up! Then again, the cosequences he'd recieve when he finally got back home....?
It wasn't worth it.
Swallowing, he hesitated, but looked back up at Mal's mother with that charming smile of his, "If its alright, Mrs Malfoy, I could come by in an hour or two?" He compeltly and utterly refused to even glance at Mal, not wanting to know how his best friend was looking at him. Cause Edward knew what he did was weak. Completly and bastardly weak 'n stupid! But really, what else could be done?

At Edward's expression, Mal brightened, liking that plan straight away. But then Adrik put his two cents in again and his expression soured. He squeezed his mothers hand slightly harder than he meant to and worked hard on not scowling. Managing it with everything but his eyes, Mal glanced at Adrik Potter and if looks could have killed then the man would have dropped down then and there. Lucky for him that this boy's look couldn't..not until he turned seventeen and wasn't monitored on the spells he conducted.
"Oh...." Isobella pouted slightly, then let go of her son, moving to draw Edward into a warm hug - she had known him since he was twelve so it was acceptable. And it was merely a social courtesy of course, her being his elder and therefore more respected. It was also because she hadn't liked the look in his father's eyes. "You take care Edward dear, and come as soon as you can, then we can organise dinner to suit you personally. I'd hate the house elf to do something ridiculous that you dislike."
Mal shot Ed daggers with his eyes, after shock had passed across his features. He couldn't get out of it in any way... He was a goner because he couldn't stand up to the old fool right now. If anything happened then he knew that his own parents would make sure that Edward had plenty of excuses to stay longer he was certain. He was just disappointed now in Edward Potter and made no attempts to hide it.
"See you later Edward." He murmured and touched his mother's shoulder, guiding her back away from being anywhere close to Adrik. "Mister Potter, sir." Half inclining his head out of respect, he then took the bags his mother held and paused for her to leave with him.
